Add in teaching Sunday School at Am Shalom. During those years I was an an active volunteer in the Jewish Community through the Young Women’s Board, the Women’s Division, Jewish Children and Family Services and the Response Center as well as PTA committees in HP.
And once our last child reached junior high, I returned to full time work as a Special Education Resource teacher and Advocate at Highland Park High School. As my extra curricular responsibility I had the wonderful opportunity be a sponsor for Key Club and immerse myself with a group of outstanding students to reach out to the community with a full slate of service projects. Along the way, I connected with United Way of Highland Park to continue my community involvement, learning first-hand about the wide range of needs and many social service agencies in HP/Highwood. So, it’s no accident that I finally found the Highland Park Community Foundation in 2013!
